Hetz Shahor

We interrupt this war to take you on a little scenic tour of southern Israel.

There is a place called Hetz Shahor...

That rock wall you see will protect you from sniper fire. Hetz Shahor means "black arrow" and this is a monument in honor of the Israeli forces who raided Egyptian-occupied Gaza in 1955 in response to Egyptian attacks on Israel. If you walk up to the point of the arrow, you will see it point right into the heart of Gaza City.

I assume the monument is within the closed military zone right now, but this war won't last forever. So, on your next trip to Israel, or your first trip to Israel, consider taking a ride down south and visit Hetz Shahor.
